Multi-million dollar construction project underway to make structural and aesthetic improvements to downtown Cleveland garage
A multi-million dollar construction project is currently underway to update the façade of the May Company Garage. Set to be completed this fall, the structural and aesthetic improvements include repairing the deteriorating concrete, repainting the structure, and replacing street level awnings.
JACK Entertainment and its affiliates acquired the May Company Garage in late 2017. The structure, which was built in 1963, has faced decades of deterioration and prior to JACK ownership, scaffolding was put in place to protect pedestrians from the building’s aging façade. Once the exterior improvements are completed, conditions will allow for the safe removal of the scaffolding.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to Cleveland’s revitalization, we are making significant improvements to the exterior of the recently purchased May Company Garage for the benefit of our tenants and greater downtown visitors,” said Mark Tricano, senior vice president of operations, Northeast Ohio for JACK Entertainment.
Cleveland-based construction company Donley’s Inc. has been named as general contractor of the project. During construction, portions of the garage and sidewalk will need to temporarily close.
The May Company Garage is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Cleveland at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Ontario Street, directly across from the historic Higbee Building which is home to JACK Cleveland Casino. The garage, which features 670 parking spaces and 14,500 square feet of ground floor retail space, is also connected to the nearly one million square feet of real estate that JACK Entertainment’s sister company Bedrock recently acquired.

Downtown Cleveland location to open in spring 2017
The downtown Cleveland landscape is about to get a taste of Boston chef-inspired burgers. Paul, Donnie and Mark Wahlberg will debut Ohio’s first Wahlburgers restaurant in early spring, 2017, at the corner of Prospect and Ontario streets in a storefront directly across from JACK Cleveland Casino.
The popular Boston-based restaurant and bar was founded with an emphasis on fun, laughter and a diverse menu of fresh burgers, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian options and 15 homemade sauces, always made with fresh ingredients. The menu was inspired by recipes served in the Wahlberg family kitchen and influenced by Sunday suppers shared with family and friends.
“Now that Cleveland is a championship city once again, it’s time for a championship burger destination in the heart of downtown,” said Mark Wahlberg.
JACK Entertainment’s partnership with Wahlburgers began earlier this year when the Wahlberg brothers decided to open their first Michigan restaurant in the historic Greektown district of Detroit, in cooperation with Greektown Casino-Hotel, JACK Cleveland Casino’s sister property. The restaurant has become a popular hot spot in downtown Detroit.
“Wahlburgers is the latest in a long line of companies that are contributing to the success of downtown areas, like Detroit and Cleveland,” said Matt Cullen, chief executive officer, JACK Entertainment. “Cleveland is home to many businesses in our Rock Ventures Family of Companies, including JACK Cleveland Casino and our 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers. We are delighted to partner with the Wahlberg brothers once again on this exciting venture.”
Wahlburgers Cleveland will occupy 5,200 square feet of space. The restaurant and bar, which will be open daily for lunch and dinner, is owned and operated by Nino Cutraro, who also is the owner and operator of Wahlburgers Detroit.
“Our Detroit restaurant has been wildly successful and we can’t wait to bring the Wahlburgers brand of great food, drinks and fun to Cleveland, as well,” Cutraro said.

Company Formerly Known as Rock Gaming Builds Powerful Team of Highly Experienced Gaming Executives to Run Properties
If you don’t know JACK, you soon will. Today, Rock Gaming LLC (“Rock Gaming”) introduced the exciting new brand for Rock Gaming and its wholly owned casinos in Ohio and Detroit. Effective immediately Rock Gaming will be known as JACK Entertainment LLC (“JACK Entertainment”).
What, or who, is JACK?
According to Darlene Monzo, JACK’s chief marketing officer, JACK is an attitude and a way of thinking. “JACK is the voice of adventure,” she said, “It is that rare friend who entices you to step outside of your comfort zone, forget your fears, have fun and live in the moment, for the moment.”
“JACK is the future of entertainment,” said Matt Cullen, chief executive officer of JACK Entertainment. “Our new brand represents our company’s progressive spirit, our pursuit of excellence and our desire to deliver our guests with unexpected, delightful experiences every day.”
Rock Gaming’s rebrand follows last year’s announcement that it acquired the balance of outstanding shares giving an affiliated company 100 percent ownership of the properties. Subsequently, Rock Gaming exercised its option to assume the day-to-day operational management of Horseshoe Cleveland, Horseshoe Cincinnati and ThistleDown Racino. The company has built a powerful team of experienced gaming executives whose first priority will be delivering an exceptional and unique entertainment experience for every guest who walks through the front door of JACK.
The operational transition, along with the brand change, is underway and will be completed by the end of 2016. JACK ThistleDown Racino will debut on March 9, followed by JACK Cleveland Casino in early May, JACK Cincinnati Casino in early June and JACK Detroit Casino-Hotel Greektown later this year.
Player Loyalty Program and the Future of Gaming
As part of the brand launch, JACK Entertainment is announcing an exciting, new player loyalty program called ClubJACK. ClubJACK will launch over the coming weeks and months as each property changes its name and completes operational transition.
While JACK guests will continue to enjoy their favorite table games and slot machines, in keeping with its progressive culture, JACK will be forward focused, exploring trends in gaming, providing inventive gaming options, blazing new trails in entertainment and revitalizing urban areas.
“We’re just getting started and, given JACK’s love for adventure, you never know what we will come up with next,” Cullen said. “What you can be certain of is that JACK will change the world of gaming as we know it.”
